Compassionate Care for Our Community

Georgia Mountains Hospice exists to help people with life-limiting illnesses. We offer comfort, dignity, and support for patients and their families as they journey through end-of-life issues. We know these are difficult times; decisions are hard, stress can be overwhelming. We are here to share your journey; to offer compassion and real help. Our Medicare certified program includes an interdisciplinary team, durable medical equipment, medical supplies, and medications for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Georgia Mountains Hospice serves residents of Cherokee, Pickens, Gilmer, Fannin, Union, Murray, Gordon, and Whitfield counties, also serving parts of adjacent Bartow, Dawson, and Forsyth counties.

Some people are unsure about hospice care. We hope to clarify who we are and what we offer up front.

  • Hospice does not mean giving up on life; it means living life, however long or short, to its fullest, with dignity and comfort.
  • Hospice is not a specific place; we provide care in your home (however you define that). We also can provide care in hospitals (link to hospital care page) as necessary.
  • Hospice is not a specific medical treatment. It includes many different symptom treatments aimed at eliminating pain and fear, allowing our patients to focus on emotional and spiritual strength in addition to physical strength.
  • Hospice is a great source of comfort and much needed help and support; a true blessing for those who need it.

We embrace the basic tenants of hospice services offering:

  • Palliative medical care, which means we treat physical, emotional, and spiritual symptoms of the patient and family, rather than curing the illness.
  • Holistic care; we treat the patient and loved ones together as a whole.
  • Pain control and symptom management
  • Bereavement and grief support services
  • Treatment in familiar, comforting surroundings of home, whether it’s a private residence, a nursing home, or an assisted living facility

"To my Hospice Angels: My heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all of you who helped care for Dad so he could remain at home in peace and dignity. I thank God He allowed me to know such beautiful, caring people."
